Good evening, Members and guests! I am Elena, this is my CC3 speech: Fall in Love with Running.

Actually, I am not a professional runner. I just have kept on running for 2 months and I just can run 8 kilometers at most. So how does a pretty amateur runner fall in love with running? Are you curious about that? Tonight, I am going to share with you about how I fell in love with running.

My running life has experienced two stages: I have to run and I want to run.

Here is the first stage: I have to run.
Things began with this Mi Band(小米手环)and a 520 promise. I got the Mi Band when I was an intern in Uber and this is Uber’s logo. Then I added my best friend Wang Lin who works in Hefei now as friend on Xiaomi sports APP. When you add friends with someone on Xiaomi sports APP, you can see his/her personal information, such as walking steps/sleeping/height and weight.
When I saw her weight, I couldn’t help laughing at her.
“Honey, you are much heavier than when we were at University.”
She said “Yeah, when you begin to work, you don’t have much time to do exercise. And I have a good appetite. So I am fat now.”
Then an idea came into my mind, I said: Since we both have a Mi Band and can see each other’s walking steps, why not we run together every day? Use this Mi Band as a monitor. I also want to lose weight.”
She replied, yeah, that’s a great idea!”
Then, she and I had an agreement: every day we have to run half an hour. If any of us can’t finish, we have to send 5.20 yuan on WeChat to the other. This is why I call it the 520 promise .My goal is to lose weight to 50KG and her goal is 55 KG.
In order to keep my promise and lose weight I began to run every day. In fact, running is more like a mission for me, I have to complete it every day. I regard running as a way to lose weight, and I just want to complete my goal as soon as possible, so I don’t have to run anymore.
So this is the first stage: I have to run.

Then things changed and came to the second stage: I want to run.
This is because our member Ivy, she knew I was running and she introduced Shandong University Marathon Association to me, then I became a member of it.
This association involves students who love running; What’s more, many of them are professional runners who have finished full marathon. So I began to run with them every night. They are much experienced than me, run faster and longer than me. Usually, we began running together, then one guy past me, another guy past me. And they usually said:” come on, senior” I said:” OK, I will!”
Being a member of our marathon association is like being a member of TMC, you are surrounded with people who love running and strive for it, and gradually you will be cheered up and inspired.
In this stage, I began to regard running as a hobby. I enjoyed the process of running. When you are running, you can think about something or don’t, let your brain relax, just like a lonely time for your brain.
In addition, every time when I finish running, I feel a sense of accomplishment. Because running requires perseverance, I have to encourage myself to hold on for every kilometer. When I finished, I felt happy and excited.
So my attitude for running changed from I have to run to I want to run.

In conclusion, this is the process how I fell in love with running.
The first stage is I have to run, as I made the 520 promise with my best friend: every day we have to run half an hour to lose weight.
The second stage is I want to run, as I joined the Shandong University Marathon Association and met so many friends who love running and we ran together every night. I was inspired by them and my attitude for running changed from I have to run to I want to run.
I fell in love with running and it became a hobby for me.
