1.Which ones should be ushered in, which

thrown out on their ear? 

usher:  to help someone to get from one place to another, especially by showing them the way.

仿写: She stood back and ushered him in.

2. The questionnaire also left room for any comments we might feel impelled to make an opportunity the panelists seized avidly, as we found when thedictionary was published and our comments were released to the press.

avidly: enthusiastically

仿写: What the reporter didn't know was how avidly the sisters, generally speaking, disliked his gender.

3. But our panel evidently felt that the Manhattan commuter’s dailytrek is no less arduous.

arduous:involving a lot of strength and effort

仿写:This work will be arduous, but we have to overcome the difficulty.

4.Just remember that all the unities must be fitted into the edifice you finally put together, however backwardly they may be assembled, or itwill soon come  tumbling down.

edifice: a building, especially a large one

仿写: Their head office was an imposing edifice.

Reflection

  The only way to  learn to write is to force yourself to produce a certain number of words on a regular basis. 写作或者说学习写作的过程需要push, 在今天读到的两章中,渐渐对前面的Clutter里疑惑有些明白了,选词的简洁,全篇作文的时态,语态的统一性,更重要的force yourself to make it.
