1. Words and phrases

1) I ducked into the bathroom in the main lobby and locked myself in a stall.

duck into:  躲进

e.g.: I duck into the car as the rain is getting bigger.

2) I didn't hear anything, so I peeked over the top of the stall to see what was going on.

peek over: 偷看

e.g.: I peeked over the window as I heard someone was yelling outside.

3) I couldn't believe everything got twisted like that, but I wasn't about to set the record straight, either.

set the record straight: 弄清真相

e.g.: I didn't set the record straight until he confessed everything.

2. Sentence

It was better to just destroy the thing than risk Rodrick getting his hands on it.

e.g.: It was better to get the important things done at the beginning of the day than leave it to the last minute.

6. Dairy

People is traveling for different purposes. Some just for fun. Some for experiencing different cultures and foods. One of my friends always travels by herself. She likes to plan everything on her own, like booking airplane, hotel, arranging routes, seeking local delicious foods, etc. She said after doing all of these things by herself, she would remember much better for the whole traveling, and at the meantime, improve her interpersonal and organizing skills. She has been to many places in this way. It sounds a good idea. Maybe I will try next time.
