While installing CentOS 6.4, got the error,

THIS KERNEL REQUIRES AN X86-64 CPU, BUT ONLY DETECTED AN I686 CPU. UNABLE TO BOOT – PLEASE USE A KERNEL APPROPRIATE FOR YOUR CPU

This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU. Unable to boot – please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU

How to get around this error ?

Answer :

Goggling about it took me to some setup needed on the BIOS. But, its much simple !

Change the OS type which you selected first time ( this can be changed in settings of Virtual Box), change it from UBUNTU to UBUNTU 64bit in OS type settings… thats IT !!!

Change OS Version to 64 bit
