[TED英文练习]Matt Cutts: Try something new for 30 days

Try something new for 30 days

a few years ago,I feel that old thing is so boring.
so I decide to follow the step of Morgen·Sierpuluoke, the great 哲学家 of America,
try something new for 30 days.
It's very simple.
think about something you want to do in your life,
and do it the next 30 days.
that is, 30 days is so adoted pearier of time to make a new habbit or change something bed.
for exmple reading news in your life.
from the try something 30 days,I leant something as belowed:
the frist thing is,this time is more unforgetable than easy to forget.
one of my challanges is go to take a photo everyday in a month.
I remenber where I was and all what I was doing that day clearly.
And I notice that as I try things more and harder in 30 days,
and I getting more self-confidence.
I was a computer no-outdoor man bacame a man who rides a bikecycle to work for fun.
Even in last year,I have clime up the topest mouthen of africa ,The 乞力马扎罗山.
and before I try the 30-day-thing,I had never be so love in anventure.
I also relize if you wan something bad,you can try them in 30 days, too.
Hava you ever want to write a novble.
every Novenber, thouthans of people try to write their own fifty thouthan words novbles from zero in 30 days.
that turnouts that, what you need to do is to write 1667 words each day for a mouth.
So I did it.
By the way ,the sicret is you will not go to sleep unless ni finish the 1667 words.
It might take away your sleeping, but you will finish your novble.
Is that novble going to be a great American novble?
no,I wrote in a mouth.It is horrible.
but at rest of my life,If I meet Jonh·Huoqiman in a party of TED,
I don't need to say that"I am a computer scientist"
no,no,I can say I am a novblist If I want.
The last thing I want to mention here,
when I do somthing is small,持续性的change,I can do it at all time,
I leant I can go on it easily.
this is none about big and crazy and change things.
Acturly,they are lots of fun.
but, they are no easy to go on.
when reject to eat candies in 30 days.
the next day,it looks like this.
so,the quetion I left for you is :
what is you all waiting for?
I promise that you can get thing you like or dislike in the next 30 days,
so why not try to do something you always want to try and give you a chance in the next 30 days?
thank you.

A few years ago, I felt like I was stuch in a rut,
so I decided to follow in the footsteps of the great American philosopher,Morgan Spurlock,
and try somthing new for 30 days.
The idea is actually pretty simple.
Think about something you've always wanted to add to your life and try it for the next 30 days.
It turns out 30 days is just about the right amount of time to add a new habit or subtract a habit
--like watching the news -- from your life.
there's few things I learned while doding these 30 -day challenges.
The first was, instead of the months flying by, forgotten, the time was much more memorable.
This was part of a challenge I did to take a picture every day for a month.
And I remember exactly where I was and waht I was doing that day.
I also noticed that as I started to do more and harder 30-day challenges,my self-confidence grew.
I went from desk-dwelling computer nerd to the kind of guy who bikes to work. For fun!
Even last year,I ended up hiking up Mt.Kilimanjaro the highest mountain in Africa.
I would never have been that adventurous before my 30-day challenges.
I also figured out that if you really want something badly enough,
you can do anything for 30 days.
Have you ever wanted to write a novel?
Every November, tens of thousands of people try to write their own 50,000-word novel,
from scratch,in 30 days.
It turns out, all you have to do is write 1667 words a day for a month.
So I did.
By the way, the secret is not to go to sleep until you've written your words for the day.
You might be sleep-deprived,
but you'll finish your novel.
Now is my book the next great American novel?
No. I wrote it in a month. It's awful.
But for the rest of my life,
if I meet John Hodgman at a TED party,
I don't have to say,
"I'm a computer scientist."
No, no, if I want to,
I can say, "I'm a novelist."
So here's one last thing I'd like to mention.
I learned that when I made small, sustainable changes, things I could keep doing,
they were more likely to stick. There's nothing wrong with big, crazy challenges.
In fact, they're a ton of fun.
But they're less likely to stick.
When I gave up sugar for 30 days, day 31 looked like this.
So here's my question to you: What are you waiting for?
I guarantee you the next 30 days are going to pass whether you like it or not,
so why not think about something you have always wanted to try and give it a shot!
 For the next 30 days.
 Thanks.

so why not think about something you have always wanted to try and give it a shot! For the next 30 days.

  • give it a shot
