    On Wednesday evening, we went to the Town Hall. It was the last day of the year and a large crowd of people had gathered under the Town Hall clock. It would strike twelve in twenty minutes' time. Fifteen minutes passed and then, at five to twelve, the clock stopped. The big minute hand did not move. We waited and waited, but nothing happened. Suddenly someone shouted, "It's two minutes past twelve! The clock has stopped!" I looked at my watch. It was true. The big clock refused to welcome the New Year. At that moment everybody began to laugh and sing.

        - twelve, [twɛlv] ，注意/v/发音，上牙齿咬/碰一下下嘴唇

        - looked, [lʊkt] 注意后面还有at，looked at连起来读。

        - refused, [rəˈfjuzd] / [rəˈfjuzd]

        - waited, [ˈweɪtɪd] / [ˈweɪtəd]

    词组：

        - Town Hall，市政厅. 

            - town hall [taʊn] [hɔl]，/aʊ/ 发音

                1）学习该音发音方法请先学习/ɑː/和/ʊ/这两个单元音。

                2）嘴巴放松张大，嘴唇向两侧分开。舌身放平，舌尖轻抵下齿，发/ɑː/。

                3）然后嘴巴收圆合拢。舌尖离开下齿，舌身后缩，舌后部身软颚抬起，发音慢慢滑向[ʊ]。

                注意：/aʊ/是个"开合双元音"，发音时口形由大变为小。音量由强到弱，由长到短，由清晰到含糊。

    音标发音：/aʊ/ 

        - town，舌头不到位会发成“唐”

练习感悟：

Answer: Because the Town Hall clock stopped unexpectedly at mid-night twevle on the last day of the year, the write says it is kind of a cold welcome as a metaphor to the new year 

Thoughts: 今天有时间看了下其他学员的每日发布，发现有些学员很认真，写的内容都好，比如本来应该做的L1 音标部分，学员们会认真查找发音规则和嘴形变化，通过看大家的发布我也能复习一些知识。这也提醒了我自己，发现一开始自己给自己定了L0+L4的目标，反而形成了习惯而自己都快忘了L1, L2的任务了，“取其上者得其中，取其中者得其下“，不如定个高目标去够一下了。
