Windows Unidentified Network, 2018-01-19

If you come across wired internet service but are shown unidentified network:

The Unidentified network message can come up if the connection (Internet Protocol address) is not detected by the computer. You need to try resetting the router. Check if that helps.

Also try connecting the Local Area Connection (LAN) cable to the router and your computer. Check if that helps as well.

Method 1-You need to follow the steps from the articles mentioned below to disable your antivirus and the Windows Firewall temporarily–

Disable antivirus software

Turn Windows Firewall on or off

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off

Note: Make sure you Turn On the Windows Firewall and re- enable the antivirus after performing all the troubleshooting steps since the computer might be at a risk of virus infection.

Method 2-You need to follow the steps mentioned below to Flush the Domain Name Server (DNS) cache-

a) Click on "Start" and type "cmd" (without the quotations).

b) Right Click on the "cmd" icon and select "Run as Administrator".

c) Now copy and paste the commands mentioned below one by one and hit "Enter" after each command –

netsh winsock reset

netsh winsock reset catalog

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

netsh int ip stop

netsh int ip start

d) Restart the computer and check.

Method 3 –You need to Update the latest Network Adapter drivers.

To do so, you need to follow the steps mentioned below –

a) Click on "Start" and type "Device manager" (without the quotations) and hit "Enter".

b) Now expand "Network Adapters" and Right Click on your Network Adapter drivers and select "Update driver Software".

c) Now select "Search automatically for updated driver software".

d) Wait for it to Update the driver and restart the computer.

e) Check if the issue persists.



Above methods are for trouble shooting and solving, if none works, go here. Reset your TCP/IP services in cmd. Might work, mine works.
