How Much Can A Data Analyst Earn?

Data analyst is one of Datician, which refers to professionals in different industries who specialize in collecting, collating and analyzing industry data and making industry research, assessment and prediction based on data.

With the development of Internet and technology, companies rely more and more on data. Therefore, the demand of data analyst is increasing rapidly.

I used some simple spider software to get some data about data analysts from www.lagou.com(you could search for more tutorials of spider methods in Zhihu). Through the analysis of requirement data, we could assess the status of data analysts and predict future developing prospect.

After cleaning and filtering,the data included 450 information at all. This had covered different companies, cities, advantages, educations, experiences and so on. Data is due to March 13th, 2018.

As can be seen from the map, demand for data analysts in the first-tier cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, is relatively large, among which Beijing has the most career opportunities. In addition, new first-tier cities such as Hangzhou, Chengdu and Wuhan also have a greater demand for data analysts.

From the chart above, we could cover that companies with more than 2,000 people view more about the value of data and therefore provide more career opportunities. It could be concluded that the larger the company, the greater the demand for data analyst jobs.

From the Box-chart above,we could know that Beijing has higher average salary for data analysts. Guangzhou is lowest. Wage level in Shenzhen is more volatile. By contrast, Hanzhou is a good place with more salary and stable environment. But it's prospect is not enough with low ceiling.

Data analysts have become a very popular career, and their demand is higher in first-tier cities. In general, companies with larger scales rely more on data. Compared with other positions, the data analyst has a higher threshold, a certain level of academic qualifications and work experience requirements. Therefore ,it has a relatively high starting salary, and can be transformed easier into operation manager, product manager, and other directions in the future.
