撒玉米喂鸡，抬头
望了片刻。银河另一边
一颗我们太阳三十五倍
体积的星星已经爆炸
和消隐，扔下个小绿点
给天文学家的视网膜
我心田洞开的穹顶上
他伫立，无人可诉。

【诗人简介】泰德·库瑟（Theodore J.“Ted”Kooser，1939-）美国当代诗人和散文作家，2004年8月任第13任美国桂冠诗人且在次年连任一届，因其对话风格的诗而闻名。其诗集《欢乐和阴影》获得了2005年度的普利兹诗歌奖，他还获得过其它11项文学奖项或荣誉，出版有诗集及其它作品共24本。

译注：第5行坎贝兰原文作Cumberlands，是复数形式。译者认为库瑟先生此处并非实指多个实际的地名，故仅音译。Cumberland除了做地名外，文化上还有一些其它含义，读者可自行查询维基百科英文版。另外考虑到库瑟先生的诗处处都是隐喻，故而本诗标题选用了一个也是含义丰富的词“经年”，而不是用惯常理解的几年后或多年后。

After Years

Today, from a distance, I saw you
walking away, and without a sound
the glittering face of a glacier
slid into the sea. An ancient oak
fell in the Cumberlands, holding only
a handful of leaves, and an old woman
scattering corn to her chickens looked up
for an instant. At the other side
of the galaxy, a star thirty-five times
the size of our own sun exploded
and vanished, leaving a small green spot
on the astronomer's retina
as he stood in the great open dome
of my heart with no one to tell.
