(1)表示收到东西的那个人: This package is for you.
(2)表示用途或原因:What is this cupboard for ? Thanks for the flowers.
(3)表示目的地或距离: The bus leaves for the city centre. We walked for miles.
(4)表示一段时间: How long have you been waiting for ? ~Not long.For about five minutes.
语法结构
1 for | + 名词短语
This book is for students of English.
The green bin is for glass.

后接for 构成短语动词的动词有: account for (= give a reason for),arrange for, ask for,
bargain for ,care for,fall for,long for(=want very much),look ofr,plan for,prepare for,
provide for(= look after financially),settle for(=agree to have )和wait for.
There were extra expenses I hadn't bargained for.

后面经常接for的名词有: time,room,space,need,desire,hope,chance,opportunity,
