Black Friday

Black Friday is an informal name for the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, the fourth Thursday of November, which has been regarded as the beginning of the country's Christmas shopping season. Many non-retail employees and schools have both Thanksgiving and the following Friday off, which, along with the following regular weekend, makes it a four-day weekend, thereby increasing the number of potential shoppers.

Black Friday has routinely been the busiest shopping day of the year in the United States. Most major retailers open very early, as early as overnight hours, and offer promotional sales. There have been reports of violence occurring between shoppers on Black Friday. It is common for prospective shoppers to camp out over the Thanksgiving holiday in an effort to secure a place in front of the line and thus a better chance at getting desired items.

Boxing Day is a holiday celebrated on the day after Christmas Day. It originated in the United Kingdom, and is celebrated in a number of countries that previously formed part of the British Empire.

In Britain, it was a custom for tradesmento collect "Christmas boxes" of money or presents on the firstweekday after Christmas as thanks for good service throughout the year. Thiscustom is linked to an older British tradition: since they would have to waiton their masters on Christmas Day, the servants of the wealthy were allowed thenext day to visit their families. The employers would give each servant a boxto take home containing gifts, bonuses, and sometimes leftover food.

January Sale

Boxing
