Nowadays, is travel really necessary for tertiary studies has attracted numerous controversies and drawn the attention of the public. As far as I concern, travel a lot could help us to broaden your horizons. But it is definitely not necessary for tertiary study, or students would spend most their school-time travelling.

After students go to college, they have lots of time that can be used on their own, some of them may travel a lot to see the world, to meet something they have never seen, to eat some food they have never eaten. But that is not learning, that is just visiting. If you want to learn something, you have to set down somewhere, and listen to some teacher or read some reference books, you need to take enough time to learn one thing, to understand a certain kind of knowledge or to master a skill. Travelling is fast, so many new things and new people come to you, you might be surprised by everything you see, and maybe you will be deeply impressed by one or two things, but soon you forget most of them, that is not how study works.

Most knowledge and technologies require a long and focused study, especially computer science and so on. Travelling may help some certain major on study like, for example, painting. You need to observe different things and then draw them to practice your skill in painting. But what for sure is that travelling is not necessary for most of tertiary studies.

To sum up, travelling is not really necessary for tertiary studies.
