第52期 April Fool's day 21/06/2019

As a speaker, I have only got two complains from my audiences. One, that I talked so loud that they can't fall asleep. And two, that I talk so long that they can't stay awake. And you know what, let me just say that we both have something in common. You don't know what I am going to that about, and neither do I. All right, stop that naughtiness, let's get back on track.

Yo, sup guys, after I have done funny introductory paragraph I will introduce you guys to a festival which I personally really like - the April Fool’s Day. The main reason why I chose this celebration as the topic for my presentation today is that the April Fool’s Day is the only day in the whole year, that you can make funny jokes to deans and teachers without getting a big whack. () For example, you can stick the “Kick me” sticker on someone’s back.

Firstly, let's move on to the origin of the April Fool’s Day, shall we? There are many different kinds of statement about the origin of the April Fool’s Day, but the most reliable one is this one.

() In 1565, the French King Charlie the 9th reset the starting date of each year to the 1st of the January instead of the 1st of the April. But, there were people unhappy about it. They were these inactive Ministers that don’t want to change anything at all and that made those active ministers furious, so they had a plan. They sent fake presents to those inactive Ministers and invite them to the party that doesn’t even exist, at the old new years time. Since then, the habit of teasing people in April has become one of peoples celebration.

() April Fool’s Day is on the first of April since the 16th century, but people weren’t really participating until the 19th century. It is the day which everyone makes harmless practical jokes to others. It could be their friend, teachers or anyone you want. (or you really want to make jokes with). When I say everyone, I meant not only us but these Social Media and even the Queen, would send our wrong news to make jokes of the civilians. For example in 2017 the 1st of the April, the famous apps called () Algodoo, which is a programmed physics simulator, sent out an announcement that says:” From now on this app is no longer free. You can click the link underneath for payment.” The funny thing is, when the customers actually click on the link, a website from Wikipedia showed off and says:” Do you know what day it is?”

Another funny incident is that a Dutch social media sent out a piece of news that says "Italy's famous Leaning Tower of Pisa has collapsed." And another Dutch media has reported that in order to force users to purchase a TV license, the Dutch government has now developed an instrument that the police can walk on the street with. The unlicensed TVs will be immediately detected and the only way to avoid inspections was to wrap the TV with aluminum foil. A few hours after the news sent out, the local shops' aluminum foil was snapped up.  It is so funny, isn't it!

There are more funny news as following. () () () ()

() Finally, let’s sum up shall we? April Fool’s Day is a celebration that you can really do something “BIG.” It really good to make funny jokes to your friends and teachers but remember, safety is always the first thing to consider. All right, hello everyone, my speech will start right now. Today I am going to introduce you guys to a…….
