新概念英语第二册 Lesson 65：Jumbo versus the police
Last Christmas, the circus owner, Jimmy Gates, decided to take some presents to a children's hospital. Dressed up as Father Christmas and accompanied by a 'guard of honor' of six pretty girls, he set off down the main street of the city riding a baby elephant called Jumbo. He should have known that the police would never allow this sort of thing. A policeman approached Jimmy and told him he ought to have gone along a side-street as Jumbo was holding up the traffic. Though Jimmy agreed to go at once, Jumbo refused to move. Fifteen policemen had to push very hard to get him off the main street. The police had a difficult time, but they were most amused. 'Jumbo must weigh a few tons,' said a policeman afterwards, 'so it was fortunate that we didn't have to carry him. Of course, we should arrest him, but as he has a good record, we shall let him off this time.'

- 遇到guard of honor一词的时候，第一时间就是想到去找参考书查意思...现在都懒得思考了，这样不太好，不是说不对，而是至少应该自己先根据上下文思考下大致意思，然后再去找资料验证，才能记忆深刻，也才能转换成自己的东西。
- 警察也是人，也有人情世故，人际关系，并不是遇到任何事情都死板一块，遇到有趣的无心之事自然也是引导疏导优先，毕竟能解决问题并且不造成过多的麻烦是最好的解决办法。
