bad/badly;how come

  • bad/badly adv. 很;非常

Examples:

  1. Look, if you want Marshall back so bad, how come it took you two days to even ask about him ?
  2. The wanted to win so badly.他们求胜心切。
  3. They are badly in need of help. 他们非常需要帮助。
  • how come +句子?为什么?怎么会
    used to ask how or why something happened

Examples:
1.So how come you got an invitation but I didn’t ? 为什么你得到了邀请而我没有?

be dying for sth/ to do sth.;play it cool

  • be dying for sth. be dying to do sth. 渴望;极想
  • play it cool 不动声色;故意装作无所谓

Examples:

  1. I was dying to ask. I was just trying to play it cool.But really…
  2. I’m dying for a glass of water. 我真想喝杯水
  3. He was shouting at me, but I played it cool - I didn’t want him to see how scared I was .他当时对我大喊大叫,但我表现得非常冷静-- 不想让他看到我有多害怕。
  4. I know you missed him badly.How come you played it cool when you finnaly saw him ?我知道你很想念他, 当你终于见到他的时候你为什么要假装冷静。

not exactly

  • exactly (表示赞同或强调正确)正是如此
  • not exactly == not really(纠正对方刚说过的话)不完全 really 用于否定句以减弱语气

Examples:

    • But I thought your summer was great.
    • Not exactly.
    • So everything’s all right now?
    • Not exactly.
    • Would you like to playing a driving game?
    • Not really.I always lose.

be/get/keep in touch;be out of touch(with sb); lose touch (with sb)

  • be/get/keep in touch (with sb) (与…)有(或进行、保持等)联系
  • be out of touch (with sb) == lose touch (with sb) 失去联系

Examples:

  1. I nerver got in touch, because I was too embarrassed.
  2. Are you still in touch with you friends from college ? 你和大学的同学还有联系么?
  3. I’m dyig to see him again, but we have lost touch since last year. 我很渴望再见到他,但我们自从去年就失去了联系了。

screw (sth) up;embarrassed

  • screw (sth) up v. 犯错;搞糟;弄坏
  • embarrassed adj. 尴尬的(uncomfortable;nervous;shy;shamed)
  • financially embarrassed 拮据的;经济困难的

Examples:

  1. I nerver got in touch , because I was too embarrassed . I screwed everything up.
  2. screw up out relationship. 搞糟我们的关系
  3. I screwed up the exam, so I was embarrassed when the teacher asked me my grade/score. 我搞砸了这次考试, 所以老师问我成绩的时候我很尴尬。
  4. He felt embarrassed to be the center of attention. 他因自己成为众人注目的中心而感到尴尬。
  5. I was so embarrassed to know my help just caused more troubles. 得知我帮了倒忙后我感到很尴尬。
