 Signing in to Windows Live Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. Error 80040154

This Error might occur due to the following reason:

  • MSXML library is corrupted

 TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS :

1. Reregister Msxml3.dll:

                a. Go to the command prompt and type the following command:

                       In Windows XP,
                                           
o   Click Start, click Run, type the following command, 
                                             
Regsvr32 %windir%\system32\msxml3.dll and Click Ok

               In Windows Vista and Windows 7,
                              
o   Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories
                               
o   Right-click Command Prompt. Click Run as administrator
                               o   Type the following command, and Regsvr32 %windir%\system32\msxml3.dll  and Click Ok

 

       If the file can be located and is available, you receive the following message: 
      "DllRegisterServer succeeded in C:\Windows\System32\msxml3.dll is succeeded"
 b. If this step is not successful, go to the Step -2. If this step succeeds, go to Step - 3.

 

2. Reinstall Msxml3:  

a.     Visit the following Microsoft Web site:

       http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=28494391-052b-42ff-9674-f752bdca9582

b.     Click the msxml3.msi link at the bottom of the page, and click download.

c.     Restart the computer, and then sign in to Windows Live Messenger again.

 

3. Restart the computer, and then sign in to Windows Live Messenger again.
