英语作文高级表达（1）

Question 1：

我通篇作文只会用important和significant ？那要不咱偶尔替换一下？

替换表达：

pivotal

关键的；核心的（替换 very important）

释义：

adj.

of great importance because other things depend on it

e.g.

1.play a pivotal role in European affairs

在欧洲事务中起到关键作用

2.The reform may prove to be pivotal in Colombia's political history.

这次改革也许会证明其在哥伦比亚政治史上是至关重要的。（替换表达在于使其精简，避免单个词泛滥）

Question 2：

不是我不会，是我的想象力受到了束缚！咱的limit无底线？

替换表达：

hem sb/sth in

包围，限制（某人/某事物）

释义：

to surround sb/sth so that they cannot move or grow easily

e.g.

1.We were hemmed in by enemy troops.（取字面义）

我们被敌军包围了

2.She felt hemmed in by all their petty rules and regulations.(figurative比喻)

她觉得受到他们那些琐碎的规章制度的束缚。

Question 3：

那这用能说明神马呢？俺来“show”一下

替换表达：

herald

是（某事）的前兆；预示

（这个词的使用可以将文章主题由小及大铺陈）

释义：

V．

to be a sign that sth is going to happen

e.g.

1.These talks could herald a new era of peace.

这些谈判可能预示着新的和平时代的来临。

2.I welcome the reform as a herald of more freedom.

我欢迎这次改革，认为它预示着更多的自由。（这里herald作为名词使用）

Note:

英语写作在词汇表达方面不是“鄙视”简单词、常用词，也不是一昧推崇“高大难”的生僻词汇，而是不建议作文通篇，反复，循环，单单使用某一表达方式。
