2、Where are the crew members now and how it is possible that they have no access to such information as regard to Mark's current status?

They are on their way back home on the Hermes. They are in the dangerous interplanetary travel and there is no an accurate way to save Mark.

3、Why is navigation tricky? And how dose he overcome this issue?

Because the Hab navy beacon only reaches 40 kilometers so it's uselessness to home out there. He navigated by Phobos.

4、Why can’t Mark use the alphabet to "receive" messages but have to resort to a seemingly more complex system?Mitch is going to tell the crew the news that Mark is still alive. If you haven't read ahead, what do you think their reactions will be?

This is because each one would only get 13 degrees which can not be recognized accurately. However cards for 0 through 9 and A through Z can make over 21 degrees each.Much easier to dealt with.

They will be shocked absolutely and then fall into silence.

5. Chapter 12 takes us back to the time before everything went south, both for Mark and the remaining crew members. What do think about Lewis, the Commander, more specifically, her heroism and, later, deep remorse?

I really think she is a responsible person.As a commander,she always strictly caries out the activities of the daily living and mission.She has tried her best to seek for Mark in that situation.
