My name is Eric Yuan.

I am the founder and CEO of ZOOM video communications. I started the company in 2011. Prior to founding Zoom, I was at Cisco for several years. I came to Cisco as part of the WebEx acquisition. Ultimately, I became VP engineer at Webex.

I spent a lot of time talking with customers. Customers are really unhappy about the Webex experience. And I feel like it's time to build the next generation of Webex. No matter which device you are using, like a mobile device, desktop, or conference, you should make your video experience perfect. To have that experience, you gotta build something from scratch.

When it comes to building a very scalable company, how to organize all the team members from all over the world, work together, and make sure to improve productivity is very important.

So over the past several years, the company has grown very rapidly. We have over half of million business customers, not only do we build technology or service, we also build an ecosystem which we can integrate with CRM applications, like Zendesk or Slack, integrate with all other hardware solutions as well. Overall, we wanna be very open, flexible integration with any other software, hardware, or business flow applications.

To have the best experience, you gotta take a different approach. You need to take a step back, really understand the customer problem, then invest your engineer time into the product. You make sure it's very easy to use. If it's too hard, nobody's gonna use it. That's why simplicity is NO.1 important thing to drive video conferencing usage.

We are the users, we gotta make sure we love that solution. If employees are not happy, guess what? they can't deliver happiness to customers. That's why our culture is to focus on delivering happiness to each other, delivering happiness to our customers.
