1. Apply for your Chinese Visa

The Visa requirements：

- more than 6 months：X1
- less than 6 month：X2

Since the X1 Visa is only valid for 30 days upon your arrival，You must apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days，or you will be considered staying illegally and fined.

When applying for your visa，you need take：

- Valid passport
- The admission notification of PKU（original copy）
- Visa application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China（JW201/JW202）

Attention：

Make sure your 【addmission notification】 and The application form are handed back to you，since it's necessary for you when applying for 【Residence Permit】.

2. Apply for your dormitory

The dormitories on compus：

- Zhongguanxiinyuan dormitories
- Shaoyuan dormitories

Where to apply for dormitory：

Online application：pay close attention to the latest notice on the 【International Students Division’s website】

On-compus dormitory are limited.

Find off-compus apartment：

- reserve a temporary residence：local hotel
- find the permanent apartment：freedom

Time to arrive in Beijing：

- no later than the registration date
- no earlier than 2 weeks before the registration date

3. Finances：Set up a Bank Account

- covert foreign currencies into RMB
- make tuition payment to college

Could I pay tuition by using my foreign currencies？

- The university only accepts payment in RMB.
- Students need to pay the full amount of one year’s tuition the day of registration.

Could I pay in cash？

Only in the Autumn Semester，on the day of registration.

4. Something you must carry
