I think the most impressive story is Chapter 4–“sugar cookie”. Sometimes those instructors will come unhinged and mandated their trainees to roll in the surf zone to make themselves “sugar cookie”. This TRICK is not only torturing (since u should wear the sand coating the whole day) but also unfair. When I first read it, I couldn’t get the point. I don’t think this inhuman task can bring any benefits. But then I realized that this task may not enhance physical strength. Instead, it will build up your mind, telling you how to accept the unfair. As soldiers, they may encounter countless unfairness. The death of teammates. The lifelong injuries from missions. These sorrows and unfairness may befall at any time for them. So they need to learn how to accept and then beat against it rather than be stuck in the sadness.

I believe that sugar cookie is not soley applied to trainees in SEAL. We all have “sugar cookie” in our life. Your peers  can score high with their premium education. Colleagues get promotions due to their nepotism. This world is not fair. But only after accepting the unfairness can we become stronger and move on. Keeping frustrated and saying “why me?” makes no difference. So why not make the unfairness part of us and march towards with determination?
