What is divination?
Still, we could get some inspiration about the human culture from those divination methods.
Aeromancy, the name of an divination method, is fromed by the prefix “aero”, which means something about the air, and the suffix “mancy” which represents the method of divination. It is a means of divination by observing the atmosphere condition. There is an old saying in China goes like that, “observe the cloud and to foretell the weather”,the atmosphere is tightly connected with people's daily life. While in the West, this kind of practice is also popular. For example, the wind, which is often regared as the messenger of news in the west culture, can play a role of the aeromancy.
Wind symbolism
Several techniques involved wind can be used. It is noticeable that how the methods work is affected by the local geographical conditions which are ruled by the climate. However, there are some general form of wind divination can be available for use.
The first one:
look for a plain ground where there is no trees and buildings so that the wind will not be blocked. If it is already windy, wait for the moment the air grows calm. Think about a question in the form of “yes/no”, and wait to see how the wind changes.
If the wind rises after the question is formulated in a short time and it could be considered as a effective response and observe the dirction of the wind. If the wind blows to the north and west, the answer is favorable while the answer is unfavorable when the wind blows to the east and south.
If no wind rises and no immediate response is available.
The second one:
Write down different outcomes or possibilities on the same small papers and take them to a windy place. Draw a circle on the ground and wait to see the wind rise and blow the papers.
The last paper remaining in the circle reveals the most possible outcome.
If those papers are simultaneously removdfrom the circle or no wind rises, no possible response can be abtained.
