除了增加好的细菌之外，把坏的细菌除去也是一另外一种办法。另外，通过噬菌体来杀死特定的细菌也是一种办法。除此之外，编辑细菌的基因的方法也正在研究讨论之中。

Other companies focus on more precise area by only choosing and delivering those bacteria they think are benefical, which is called "bugs as drugs". Seres Therapeutics think some combinations of the microbes can catalyse shifts in the bacteria ecosystem, especially from the bacteria supporting disease to those supporting health.

Except adding the good bacteria, subtracting bad ones is also an approach. Also, using bacteriophage to kill specific bacteria is also under discovering. Besides, genome editing of bacteria is also on the agenda.
