Today is Sunday.

Pippi had stayed up late last night, playing ball, so she suddenly felt sleepy. She told Tommy and Annika that she was going to take a nap and she asked if they would go with her and tuck her in. She sat on the edge of the bed and took off her big shoes. Tommy asked her why she wore such big shoes. Pippi told him it was because her toes could wiggle in them. And then she lay on the bed, feet on the pillow and head under the quilt. She told them in Guatemala people all slept like that and she had to sing lullaby to herself for a while to let her sleep and then Tommy and Annika heard the humming sound under the quilt. They tiptoed to the doorway and took the last look toward the bed. They could see nothing of Pippi except her feet resting on the pillow. Pippi lay on the bed, wiggling her toes emphatically. On the way home, Annika held the coral necklace and asked Tommy if it was hidden by Pippi the day before. Tommy said no one knew that and no one would know what Pippi would do.
