NVMe/TCP I/O Operations

Figure 8-7 shows NVMe/TCP Read I/O Operation. A host (initiator) initiates a read I/O operation over a TCP connection to the target, which is called a controller in NVMe terminology. The target sends data to the host in one or more packets based on the amount of data requested by the I/O Operation (I/O size), the MTU of the network, and the MSS of the TCP connection. This is optional. The initiator sends data to the target in one or more packets based on the amount of data requested by the I/O Operation (I/O size), the MTU of the network, and the MSS of the TCP connection.
