1、Install the fastestmirror plugin
CentOS 5.x: yum -y install yum-fastestmirror
CentOS 4.x: yum -y install yum-plugin-fastestmirror

2、enable the plugin
[root@centos ~]# vi /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/fastestmirror.conf
[main]
enabled=1
