Supported file formats and extensions

This guide lists all the media formats supported by Silex.

Medias are loaded on the stage by the corresponding components (either base, silex or oof ones).

Image

• JPG ( .jpg )

Images encoded with the JPEG algorythm. No transparency support.

• GIF ( .gif )

Images/animations encoded with the GIF algorythm.No transparency support.

Only works with Silex websites configured for Flashplayer8 at least.

• PNG ( .png )

Images encoded with the PNG algorythm. Supports transparency.

• SWF ( .swf )

Drawings/animations encoded in the Adobe Flash format. Supports transparency.

• Favicon ( .ico )

Images/animations for website or URL icons using the Favicon file format. Supports transparency.

Video

• FLV( .flv )

Video in the Flash Video container format.

• H.264 ( .mp4, .mov, .f4v, .3gp )

Video in either the MP4 or Quicktime container format.

Only works with Silex websites configured for Flashplayer9 at least.

Animation & vectorized image

• SWF ( .swf )

Drawings/animations encoded in the Adobe Flash format. Supports transparency.

Sound

• MP3 ( .mp3 )

Audio encoded with the MP3 codec.

• AAC ( .aac, .m4a )

Audio encoded with the AAC codec.

.m4a files only works with Silex websites configured for Flashplayer9 at least.

Dynamic components

• SWF ( .swf )

These components are silex specific components which can extend silex core functionalities.

There are three types for now: base components, silex components and Oof components.
