perfect practice makes perfect

I had a fencing coach who would always remind us that practice doesn’t make perfect:
practice makes permanent. That is, if you do something over and over again, eventually
it will become automatic, rote. That is true, but it says nothing about the quality of the
thing you are practicing. If you practice bad habits, then bad habits become rote. Instead,
you should follow the rule that perfect practice makes perfect. In that spirit, I encourage
you to follow the rest of the examples in this book as if you were making a real-live
website, as if your reputation and remuneration were depending on the quality of the
outcome. Use this book to not only learn new skills, but to practice building good habits.
