goal: How ATP Rules are used in Global Order Promising (OM ATP)
fact: Oracle Global Order Promising 11.5
fact: Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning 11.5
fact: Oracle Order Management 11.5

fix:
ATP Rules are setup in Inventory > Setup > Rules > ATP Rules.
More information on ATP Rules and their setup is available in the Inventory
User's Guide.
This note supercedes the Inventory User's Guide and explains the functionality
for certain fields and how they are used for Global Order Promising (or OM ATP -
  ATP performed from Order Management).
This note does not apply to ATP functionality in Work in Process (WIP) or the
Inventory Supply Demand Form.

HOW ATP RULES WORK IN GLOBAL ORDER PROMISING
1. ATP does not use all the fields in the ATP Rules form.
2. The usage of the fields is governed by the setting for the profile option
INV:Capable to Promise.  There are two valid settings in 11.5. With the latest
Data Collections patches, the following settings are available:
      - ATP based on Collected Data
      - ATP/CTP based on Planning Data
3. Setup information for ATP can be found in Global
Available To Promise (GATP)
and in  How to Set Up Data Collection for Order Management
ATP Availability

ATP BASED ON COLLECTED DATA
----------------------------
The fields for Consumption and Accumulation are not used.
1.Backward Consumption
----------------------
Backward consumption is performed until there is no activity for the item.
This can be limited by the Past Due Days for either Supply or Demand. A value
in  Past Due Days will limit how far back ATP looks for either Supply or Demand.
2. Forward Consumption
----------------------
Forward consumption is performed until the end of any activity for the item or
until the Infinite Supply setting for the Time Fence Date is encountered.
However, if Allocated ATP based on user-defined allocation percent is used,
then NO forward consumption is performed.
3. Accumulation
---------------
Accumulation is performed for all activity encountered by ATP based on the ATP
Rule settings for Supply and Demand, Past Due Days, and the Infinite Time Fence.

ATP BASED ON PLANNING DATA
--------------------------
All activity recorded in the APS plan is used for ATP purposes.
NO fields in the ATP Rules are used EXCEPT for the Infinite Supply setting.

NOTES
------
For Releases 11.5.2 or later, apply the latest ATP and Data Collections patches
to provide all the latest fixes for these two important functions.
The latest ATP and Data Collections patches are available in the List of High Priority Patches for OM ATP ASCP and ODP
