Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)

SYMPTOMS

Slow performance across RAC database on Solaris 10.

AWR reports indicate excessive number of lost blocks. OS Watcher (netstat) data shows increase in ipReasmFails counter over time.

CAUSE

This is caused by a Sun bug: 

BUG 15529329  udp packets are dropped (ipReasmFails) if soft rings are enabled

This bug has been fixed in Solaris 10 U8.

SOLUTION

Please apply the following OS patch:

141414-01 (for Solaris sparc)
137104-02 (for Solaris x86)
