The Governor's Academy 迦文那中学简介

          Founded in 1763, the Governor's Academy is the oldest high school in the United States. With more than 250 years of history, it is the community of 408 students which especially excel in visual and performing arts as well as Mathematics. However, the Governor's Academy is most proud of its two accomplishments --- students’ constant practice of the 7 Essential Skills and a warm, tight community environment which I believe are two very crucial factors for a healthy education system.

      迦文那中学位于美国马萨诸塞洲，建于1763年，有250余年历史，是美国最古老的私立高中。整座学校共有408名学生，平均一班12名学生，师生比例1：6。迦文那中学最擅长视觉和表演艺术以及数学，所有学术课程皆使用“圆桌教学”。然而，其最引以为豪的两项成就则是学校自创的“七大学习准则”和其为学生提供的紧凑社区。

      The 7 Essential Skills are the seven learning habits established and emphasized by the Governor's Academy to be remembered and practiced by all students --- Critical thinking, collaboration, communication, thoughtfulness, access of information, adaptability and understanding and acting as a community.

      According to the administrative teachers, what truly makes the Governors' Academy special is the community it provided. Every individual are not only respected, but also considered as members of the large family. The faculty members constantly care about the students' character and everyone in the Governor's Academy even knows the names of nearly every individual. The diversity and warmth in the Governor's Academy will greatly enrich students' character which is its main purpose of education.
