Impression on Beetroot's article "Insects, the eerie food"

Beetroot He's WeChat subscriber published a new article about the Chinese eerie food, insects.

Start with the public's common expression of disgust on hearing eating bugs, the author analyses the very logical public psychology. Then he exemplifys the phenomenon of eating bugs geographically, especially in southern China. Then he aims the target to the reason why lots of people abhor this eating style. But on the contrary, bugs are very good source of protein. Then it comes to several bugs people take in normal life, in terms of collecting, cooking, and tasting. His conclusion is short but impressive. He depicts the illusion in people's brain at the thought of eating bugs.

He is a learned man, using exact phrases, and even modifying them. I had thought that "Victory Zhi Bu Wu" is to appraise somebody who wins without fight. Actually it is a pejorative term to describe an unequal contest brings no honour to the victor. So he depicts somebody who eats young baby insects are cruel and it is a manner of "Eating Zhi Bu Wu", bringing no honour to the eater. His wealth of knowledge is reflected in the history aspect as well. On analysing the wider recipe of southern people, he uses a history famous gourmet, Dongpo Su as an example. Everyone knows his recipe "Dongpo Pork", but not everyone knows why he loved it. During the endless trek of his exile in the ancient barren southern part, surviving became a serious problem. Accidentally, pork was looked down upon at that time and thus very cheap. No wonder he would develop recipe with anything cost-effective. He did not really invent the recipe out of love. For the majority of ancient local southern, it was also a rough task to get protein. This is why they can swallow a spot sting, a possible poison insect, raw. So beetroot concludes that under the cover of wide recipes, there were countless spirits of the brave departed. He dips in other subjects as well. In term of ecology, he explains the metamorphosis of insects from eggs to larvae to a thing with wings. But metamorphosis is considered abnormal when it comes to human or other animals. That's why insects and bugs are considers eerie food-ecologically they are not acceptable.

He definitely have read a lot of comics, cause his language is as vivid and exaggerated as comics. For example, "Every time I express my love of eating insects and bugs among people, there will be a large empty space around me." I can almost see the look on their faces. Another one is the illusion he gives at then end of the article. When a person talks about his desire for eating insects, his spirit has flown out into forests, without noticing the strange looks on the audiences.

It is not only the first article I have read bout eating insects and bugs, but also the first one that describes the feeling and flavour of a kind of food so vividly. It seems he also arose an emotional resonant among readers in the following comment area. It is appetizing, and makes my mouth waters.
