Lesson 4 An exciting trip

I have just received a letter from my brother, Tim. He is in Australia. He has been there for six months. Tim is an engineer. He is working for a big firm and he has already visited a great number of different places in Australia. He has just bought an Australian car and has gone to Alice Springs, a small town in the centre of Australia. He will soon visit Darwin. From there, he will fly to Perth. My brother has never been abroad before, so he is finding this trip very exciting.

From My View:

Jim has just received a letter from his younger brother','[=> 去掉 170116] Tim who has been in Australia for six month[=> months]. Tim is an engineer and is working for a big firm. He has been visited many places in Australia. He has just bought an Australian car and has been in Alice Springs, a small town in the 'middle'[=> center of] Australia. 'Later'[=> soon] he will arrive Darwin and from there he will fly to Perth. Tim had never been abroad before, so he 'find'[=> is finding] the trip very exciting.

Mistakes

  1. 不少地方 a great number of places
  2. has gone to A 现在在A. has been to A. 曾经到过A.
  3. 中部 in the center of ...
  5. arrive
  7. is finding

From Tim's View:

I has written a letter to my elder brother Jim. In the letter, I told him that I had been in Australia for six 'month'[=> months]. By the way, I am in Australia because I am a big firm's engineer. I has 'gone'[=> visited] many places. I has just bought an Australian car and has driven to Alice Springs which is a small town in the 'middle'[=> center] of Australia. 'Later'[=> soon] I will go to Darwin and from there I will fly to Perth. I never have been abroad before, so I 'find'[=> am finding] the trip very exciting.

Mistakes

  1. I has gone 明显错误. 曾经到过应该用 have been to 这里 用have visited 更好.
  2. never have been 改成 have never been 语序才对
  3. is finding (that) ...
  4. in the center of 和 in the middle of 的区别 差不多吧.

Remembers

is finding ...

  1. I find most of the young men of my own age so boring.
  2. I found them quite easy to use.
