The past simple is used for actions that happened in the past and are finished.

They are not connected to the present.

Present Perfect

现在完成式

We use the present perfect for actions that happened in the past and are connected to the present.

They are still true, or might happen again.

I’ve seen two movies this week.

I saw two movies already this week and I might see more movies this week.

Past simple & present perfect

一般过去式&现在完成式

Past simple: for specific times in the past.

I saw that movie a year ago.

He met her last Thursday.

Present perfect: for non-specific times

现在完成式：用于非具体时间

I’ve seen that movie already.

He’s met her before.

Past simple: focuses on when.

I rode a horse last week.

He visited Tokyo in the summer.

Present perfect: focuses on what (experience)

现在完成式：关注于经历

I’ve ridden a horse.

He’s visited Tokyo.

We use the past simple to be more specific.
