The last microbiome-related approach to medicine is to identify exactly the microbe-produced substances which can affect human health, be it good or ill. This is related with the interests of pharmaceutical companies. They hope the knowledge can lead to the products which they are adept at making. However, the public has turned their effort to cancer. The idea that guts microbes can influence the progress of cancer is extraodinary and rewarding.
