CC4:-All for Love (745 words)
34 years ago, I was born in a small village and our families lived a poor life. To earn more money, my father went out and worked in a place which was far away from our village. He went home several times a year. Each time when he went home, he bought presents to us but had little time to hug us, talk with us, let alone to play with us.After I was 8 years old, we moved to a small city. My parents started from scratch. They worked in different companies. Their salary was too low to afford our life and education. So they stared to sell fruits after work as a street-vendor's stand.
Every morning, dad got up at 5:00 to buy apples, bananas, pears, and all other kinds of fruits from wholesale market . After work, he left office immediately to help mom sell fruits. We can only meet each other at night after they pack up the stall. And this was the happiest time in a day. I counted money with them, and "stole" one or two yuan secretly. I told them what had happened in the school, and the most important thing was when and how much money that school asked for what things, and how much pin money I want to buy stationeries and rent books.
To give us a better life and have better education, dad sacrificed a lot. He sacrificed his rest, his health, his time to stay with his daughters, his hobbies. But I know these were all for love.
In the first day of 2012, I became a parent for the first time. Both my husband and I still remembered the indescribable experience of holding our week-old daughter and feeling our priorities will change from now on.
To give daughter the best chances to be a better person we supposed, we want her to go to a good kindergarten, study dancing, playing piano, drawing, to go to a better primary school and middle school. And all these need money, money, and money.
He worked in Shenzhen Huawei at that time, and went home every weekend. Later, to have more time to accompany us and earn more money in long future, he quitted his job and joined a start-up company in Beijing as a stakeholder.
At that time, almost no people around us understand our decision. Unforeseen future and long distance are big problems. If he chooses to start his own business, although there are many risks, there are also hopes. What we hope is that in one day, he can earn much money, at same time, he has much time to accompany us.
But it was very pity, although he worked harder than in Huawei, the company was dissolved after 4 years. During these 4 years, he worked very hard and spent little time in family, but earned little money. Sometimes I could not help but complaining to him "Why you left Huawei? Why you start own business? It's all your fault, let our life go-down to current situation!”
One day, I complained to him again. He could not put up with me and shouted out: What I did were all for love, for giving a better life to you and our daughter! What I really like is earning more money, and live a more free, higher-quality life when we are 40 years old.
I said nothing to him. Yes, I almost forgot the original intention why he chosen to start his own business. He spent almost his time to work, just because he loved us, wanted to give us a better life!
After that, I understood him much more than ever. I truly think he is the man I want to live with forever. Although we lived a harder life than before, but we loved each other more. Besides that, I had more deep understanding of life and love. Both of us grew up a lot during this period of tough time.
Luckily, one month after his company is dissolved, he got an offer with higher salary and more flexible working time. Our life returned to normal, and became better and better.
My dear fellow toastmasters, life is hard, sometimes we have to sacrifice a lot of things. But all these sacrifices are all for love. We should understand each other, love each other, cherish all the sacrifices made by each other. And these sacrifices definitely can bring what you want at last.
