A cup of tea?

我们我们在说话的时候好像很自然的就说，a cup of tea，a cup of coffee，

而不用 glass， 虽然我们用地杯子可能是玻璃的。为什么呢？

A glass is a container made from glass, which you can drink from and which does not have ahandle.

哦，glass 是用玻璃做的，而且没有把手儿。其实用塑料做的plastic杯子也可以说glass，主要还是没把手吧。

没有把手就不能用来装热的东西啦，烫手啊！

a glass of water,

a glass of wine，

a glass of beer，

a glass of coke,

a glass of milk.

如果你是喝热牛奶，一般就得用cup，

A cup is a small round container that you drink from. Cups usually have handles and aremade from china or plastic.

I can not go to bed without a cup of warm milk.

那喝热水呢？

我不知道，貌似他们不太喝热水吧，不加冰已经很不正常了。

茶、咖啡什么的都是用cup。

喝热的还有一种杯子叫马克杯，

A mug is a large, deep cup with straight sides and a handle, used for hot drinks.

其实就是音译过来的，指的大的有柄的杯子，一般用来喝热饮。

也可以用来喝啤酒，哈哈。

啤酒杯可以说 beer mug 或 beer glass

但主要还是热饮，前面说的用cup的热奶、茶、咖啡都用这个喝。

办公室喝茶的杯子以后我就说用的是马克杯，多洋气的名字，哈哈。坏了，该被妙玉和林妹妹笑话我“牛饮”了。

其实 cup 也可以做动词，倒咖啡就可以说 cup the coffee。

今天多说几句关于cup作动词的用法儿。

除了cup the coffee 这种用法儿，“用手做出杯子的形状（form into the shape of a cup）”也可以用 cup 表达。

如用手捧着一只小鸟儿呀，鸡蛋呀什么的，

You can gently cup your hands, as if you are holding an egg and you don't wantto break it.

或者手做成这个形状为了笼音比如，

By that point the crowd was so loud, that Townshend had to cup his hands around themicrophone and shout.  把手笼在麦克上喊。

或者，表示两个人耳语时手的动作，

I cup my hand to whisper to you：
