Part 1 Vocabulary

1.The city was bursting with sounds.

burst: to feel a strong emotion, or strong wish to do something

Eg: I knew they were bursting withcuriosity but I said nothing.

Part 2: Sentences

Part 3: Summary

Amir landed in Peshawar and found Rahim Khan.He had been badly ill and coughed a lot. They caught up on their lost years. RKtold Amir that his Baba’s orphanage was destroyed by the Alliance. Since they fled Afghanistan, Rk had lived in their house and taken good care of their home.Amir asked RK to go with him to America for his treatment, but he refused it. Rk was so badly sick that he was not able to maintain the house. Being lonely andempty in the big house, RK decided to look for Hassan in 1986. RK found Hassan in a small village where he had settled down there since Ali dismissed himself from the house. RK recognized Hassan at first sight. Hassan had been married and his wife was visibly expecting. Hassan told RK that his father was killed by a land mine two years ago. RK asked Hassan to move to Kabul with him and to care for the house with him. But Hassan hesitated, saying that he and his wife had made a life for themselves there. RK spent the night in Hassan’s house. The next day, Hassan eventually decided to move to Kabul.

Hassan insisted to live in the hut where he had lived. Hassan and Farzana maintained the house well as if they were preparing the house for someone’s return. Farzana gave birth to a stillborn baby girl, making her heartbreaking. In 1990, Hassan’s mother returned and his wife delivered a son in the winter of 1990. After they spent several happy years together, the Taliban rolled in and they began to massacre the Hazaras.

Part 4随感

儿时的伙伴都已长大，成家。Hassan有了妻子，逃跑多年的母亲回来了。在曾经长大的房子里，教儿子读书写字，陪母亲和妻儿，照顾RK叔叔，过着安静快乐的生活，尽管外面是战火连天。看这段回忆时，我总是感觉满满的暖心。苦难时，家人相伴才是最好的应对苦难的办法吧。
