1. —improvement, and when that improvement stops, it is natural to believe you’ve hit some sort of implacable limit.

implacable:describes (someone who has) strong opinions or feelings which are impossible to change 不饶人的;坚定的;无法改变的

造句:I have an implacable hatred for parsley.


2. This is their plateau.

plateau:a period during which the level of something does not change, especially after a period when it was increasing平稳时期,〔尤指增长后的〕稳定期:

跨越停滞阶段——以新的方式挑战自己

几乎任何一个领域的人们不再进步的主要原因都是:经过前期的快速进步后,渐渐地进步停滞了,你自然以为自己遇到了某种无情的限制,因此你停步不前,最后就让自己停滞在那一水平。对每一个遇到停滞阶段的人来说,要越过这个阶段,最好的办法是以新的方式挑战你的大脑或身体,在不同类型的训练之间切换,以便可以持续不断地以不同方式挑战自己。

攻克特定的弱点

当你发现自己再难以提高时,可能只是那项技能中的其中一两个组成部分在妨碍你,而不是所有组成部分都在绊住你,问题是,到底是哪些呢?

搞清楚到底是什么让你停滞不前,你犯了什么错?什么时候犯的?逼着自己走出舒适区,看看是什么拉住了你前进的道路,然后设计一种练习方法,专门来改进那个特定的弱点。

保持动机

着手做并不难,难的是长久的坚持。就像我常常会给自己列一大堆计划目标,可是大多数我连一个星期都坚持不下去。

这种现象称为“新年决心效应”

如果你不再相信自己可以实现某个目标,要么是因为你的水平已经倒退了,要么是因为你陷入了停滞阶段。此时,千万不要半途而废,和你自己达成一个协议,尽自己的努力回归到之前的状态或者跨越停滞阶段,然后再放弃,到那个时候,也许你就不会放弃了。
