  As is known to us all, Chinese students study English quite hard. Unluckily, the truth is that the majority of them have a good command of reading and writing well, that is examination-oriented ability, while lacking in listening and speaking ability.

  So let's talk about how come such a situation emerges in the following. My opinions are as follows. I assume that in essence the radical reason can be attributed to the examination-oriented education lasting for a long time. Owing to such an education schools and teachers make every effort to level up students'examination-oriented ability, namely, reading and writing ability, thus resulting in the negligence of progress of listening and speaking ability. And on the other hand, students attach more importance to enhancing the reading and writing ability but think little of listening and speaking ability as well for adjusting to the malformed educational mode and earning themselves a bright future. It is learners'and teachers' belittling that gives rise to such an abnormal condition.

  As for the approach to changing it, from my perspective, the key to it is transforming our attitudes to it and put more emphasis on it. Only when everyone begins to think highly of listening and speaking ability, can results that we expect be likely to appear. Based on this, teachers are supposed to adjust the methods of teaching and try to make students interested in practices of listening and speaking given interest is the best teacher. While students, the main body of it, ought to practice listening and speaking more after class.

  I hold strong belief that our new generations' listening and speaking ability will advance immensely in the foreseeable future.
