Tuesdays with Morrie - Day 1

Main Characters

Morrie Schwartz - the coach

Mitch Albom - the student

What is it?

The class met on Tuesdays.

It began after breakfast.

The subject was the meaning of life. It was taught from experience.

The themes are love, community, family, aging, forgiveness and death.

How did Morrie think  of his illness?

Do I wither up and disappear, or do I make the best of my time left? He had asked himself.

After all, I get to be a baby one more time.

How can we deal with our lives in Morrie's opinions?

1. Accept what you are able to do and what you are not able to do.

2. What is expected of me Versus what I want for myself.

3. Life is a wrestling match. Love wins. Love always wins.

4. Still, if you really want it, then you'll make your dream happen.

What is the relationship between life and culture?

The culture we have does not make people feel good about ourselves. And you have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesn't work, don't buy it.

So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.

Thoughts

After reading one article from Eric, I know this book - Tuesdays with Morrie. Eric said every  person before 30 years old should  read this book to know how to live. Therefore I have the most interest to read it and wish to get key points to succeed in life. I hope to get more and more useful suggestions to guide my life, but I finally found that life is honed to look better. There is no definite standards for a good life. Because the definition of goodness varies from different people. However, this book teaches me to remove unnecessary materials and purify my minds.

Lives are to live and feel.
