Monsters in Man's Clothing

‘Keep our secret between us.’ ‘I have a telescope that is so big that I can watch you closely when you are at home.’ ‘I would know what you talk about and what you do.’ These horrifying lines are not from a Steven King novel. In fact, it was a teacher who said those creepy words to many a students in a kindergarten in Beijing.

It is said that students in that kindergarten were forced to take pills, given shots, and terrifyingly sexually abused. At first, some children went home and told their parents that teachers had given them shots and pills. The parents found out that their children had several injection holes all over their bodies. Then they tried to ask teachers about what happened at the kindergarten, but they were rudely rejected without getting any answers other than your kids only had hallucinations. Shortly afterwards, light was cast on this issue as a dozen of students told their parents the same story and some of them have been badly injured. As a result, This is not a mere story but an appalling fact. Those monstrous teachers asked the students in the name of health checkups to take off their clothes and toyed with their body parts. Other than the crying, no boys or girls ever escaped the beastly crimes, which may have happened twice. When they found out the truth, the heart-broken parents rushed into the school, questioning the headmaster as to what their kids have been fed and shot and asking for the video tapes. The incident should’ve ended here, with the criminals put into jail.

But things have come to a standoff. These parents haven’t seen the tapes yet. And nothing has been done even after the police got involved there. The news has been spread on the internet but many posts and articles keep being deleted. All the netizens haven flown into a fury as well as the parents. None of them, however, can make further moves for the moment as no video tapes have been exposed. Before justice is brought to this case, how would this happen in the first place?

The problem is that many people believe that preschool teachers are not a big deal. It’s an everyone-can-do job. This has lowered the standard for those who want to teach young kids and therefore made it possible for  monster-like teachers to walk with ease in angels’ gardens. Another reason is that the wages for kindergarten teachers are not appealing enough, so that many kind and nice teachers who are much needed keep leaving. Government authorities are also to blame, because they haven’t set up an effective system that would hold any monsters accountable. In addition, when nasty things happen, the authorities rarely act swiftly ，if at all, the sluggish response that would hurt everyone and breed more terrifying crimes in the coming years.

No one could imagine that what has happened in this world’s second largest economy which has over 5000 years of history. Kindergartens, at any rate, are a place where kids start to explore this fantastic world, rather than a place for the monsters who prey on the innocent.
