I’ve just learnt a phrase which is called “free rider”.

What is a free rider? A free rider may refer to someone who enjoys the benefits of an activity without paying for it. In that case, there may be such kind of person in the workplace, and maybe we can’t avoid meeting free riders in our daily life.

Do we have free riders in a classroom? Of course. When a task is given, most children begin to pour their heart into it, while others just hang around. When the task is finished, everyone say they have tried their best including the children who hang around.

Are there any free riders hiding quietly in your school? I think so. Take our school as an example, most of the teachers in our school are hard-working because they have so many things to do every day that they have little time to have a break. But for other teachers, they are so free that every day at school is like a holiday for them. They don’t need to work on anything. Their work is doing nothing at all! Surely they are given a job to do, but they see that as nothing, so they just don’t do it or do it perfunctorily. The leader usually don’t believe them, as a result , they were required to do less and less work. And the less work they do, the more careless they are. Finally that becomes a vicious circle that’s hard to break. But when it comes to the salary, the free riders never lose interest and manage to get as much money as they could without thinking about their slight efforts.

Free rider problem is becoming more and more serious. It is unfair that work more equals work less. Some actions must be taken to solve such problems, otherwise it will hurt many people’s hearts and cause more people slack in work.
