That sentence is, when you move up a notch on the social strata, chances are that your life would still be hard, and you might get pushed around by your new superior. Actually, chances are means it is very likely that in oral language. Thanks for Eric's help. I guess I can learn a lot from everyone's notes and I'll keep going.
