Product Line

ENOVIA Product Line Management provides the ability to define productlines and models. Product lines manage models and models manageproducts. A product line must be created before any other functions canbe performed.

Models

Models give full visibility of all the builds created for the productor product configuration managed by that model. Models control the unitor range of builds for that product and assign a unit number to eachbuild across all revisions of that managed product. A model is acollection of products, features and requirements. When a new model iscreated, a product with the same name is also automatically created.

Product

Products can have any number (0 to N) of features linked to them.Products are identified with revisions and versions. Products aremaintained as product masters and are related to a product line.

The first time a product revision is created, a newproduct master is also created. The first instance of a product canonly be a product revision. You can then decide whether to revise thecurrent product revision or create a product version. When a product isrevised or versioned, all the features directly linked to revision Nare, by default, also linked to revision N+1 (relationshipreplication). Subfeatures of the first level are unaffected by thisoperation. During the product revision or version process, you canreplicate features from the previous revision or select from a list ofexisting versions.

Portfolios

ENOVIA Product Line Management provides the ability to define andmaintain portfolios, which are a group of products and models that areused to track the launch process. This section describes how to createand modify portfolios. It also explains how to view a timeline ofmilestones for objects in a portfolio.

Builds

There are two types of builds, hardware builds and software builds. Each type of build is defined for a specific product.
