EU Textile Output Declines in June

In June 2005 compared to May 2005, manufacturing of textiles and textile products declined by 0.1 percent in the EU25.

Manufacturing of machinery and equipment increased by 2.6 percent in the euro-zone and by 1.1 percent in the EU25.

Manufacturing of chemicals and chemical products gained 1.2 percent and 1.3 percent respectively.

In June 2005, and among the Member States for which data are available, total manufacturing working on orders rose in nine Member States, fell in six and remained stable in Estonia. The highest increases were registered in Malta (+25.2 percent), the Czech Republic (+7.4 percent), Portugal (+5.5 percent), Ireland (+5.2 percent), Hungary (+3.2 percent) and Germany (+3.1 percent). The largest falls were recorded in Slovakia (-7.0 percent), Sweden (-5.7 percent) and Latvia (-2.6 percent).

In June 2005, and among the Member States for which data are available, total manufacturing working on orders rose in eleven Member States and fell in five.

The highest rises were recorded in Latvia (+38.2 percent), Hungary (+24.9 percent), Denmark (+17.7 percent), Estonia (+17.5 percent) and the Czech Republic (+14.3 percent).

The largest decreases were registered in Belgium (-5.6 percent), Slovakia (-4.0 percent) and the Netherlands (-2.8 percent).
