Lesson27 A wet night 雨夜

Late in the afternoon, the boys put up their tent in the middle of a field. As soon as this was done, they cooked a meal over an open fire. They were all hungry and the food smelt good. After a wonderful meal, they told stories and sang songs by the camp fire. But some time later it began to rain. The boys felt tired so they put out the fire and crept into their tent. Their sleeping-bags were warm and comfortable, so they all slept soundly. In the middle of the night, two boys woke up and began shouting. The tent was full of water! They all leapt out of their sleeping-bags and hurried outside. It was raining heavily and they found that a stream had formed in the field. The stream wound its way across the field and then flowed right under their tent!

From One of the boys's View:

We went camping yesterday and we got a unfortable experience. It was late in the afternoon when we put up a tent in the middle of the field. As soon as we had done this, we made an open fire and cooked a meal over it because we were all hungry. The meal smelt good and tasted decilious as well. We had a wonderful supper. Then we sat around the campfire and told stories and sang songs. Some time later, it started raining. We were all tired so we put out the fire then slept in the tent with wrapped by our own sleeping-bags. About middle night, I was woken up by a cold sense of water. I shouted because the tent was full of water. My shouting woke all my friends up. All of us leapt out of our sleeping-bags and hurried outside. It rained terrible heavily. A stream had formed and wound through the field and just passed under our tent.

Last night, I was woken by a emergency phone call. It was from my son. He went camping yesterday with his four classmates. But they ran into the trouble at mid-night. They reached the camp field in the late afternoon. Then they put up a tent and cooked and had a delicious meal. They had a wonderful night with stories and songs. They even did not feel tired and sleepy until it started raining. They were so tired that they were unconscious before their tent was full of water. They at last found that a stream had formed and flowed right under their tent as it rained too heavily. Then they are cold without a shelter. I drove my car to where they stayed to take them home.
