2. 体会这个词 （进阶篇）

“factor”作为名词表示“因素”，作动词它有一个很灵活的动词短语：factor (something) in，意思是“将......考虑进去”。

当我们想表示“考虑到...”时，我们可能会立刻想到 “take something into account” “take something into consideration”，这时候我们其实也可以用 factor something in。来看几个例子。

在北上这样的城市月收入 1.5 万元看似是高薪，但如果考虑到租房和其他生活成本，就没那么多了。就可以说：

When housing and other living costs are factored in, a monthly salary of ￥15,000 in Beijing and Shanghai does not seem that handsome.

评价学生的学术表现不能只看绝对的成绩，而应该考虑到学生的社会经济条件，就可以这么说：

Students who are considered underachievers are actually overachievers once their socioeconomic statuses are factored in.
