Title: “Space exploration is a waste of money.” Do you agree with the statement?
In my opinion, there are not just disadvantages of wasting money on space exploration but advantages that may be an improvement for mankind.
As research from online shows, there are pros and cons for space exploration that may be used as advantages and disadvantages for mankind.
Firstly, the exploration of outer space is an efficient way to provide us knowledge about the universe. By exploring our solar system, we can discover the mysteries about the universe which may be an improvement to science and technology earth. As Neil Armstrong said in the year 1969, “That’s one small step for a man. One giant leap for mankind”. Space exploration has a great impact in the category of science and technology than wasting money.
With that being said, here is the second advantage which is space exploration allows us to have an access to new mineral resources found in the other planet. Satellite technologies developed nowadays allowed us to have access to communicate with one another more effectively. As for space exploration, satellite work as an effective tool for locating mineral deposit and fuel sources on other planets, asteroids and celestial bodies that benefit mankind on earth.
On the other hand, space exploration may provide mankind with a wider perspective towards the unknown universe and may drive numerous industries toward innovative new products for the need to innovate for the harsh environments of space. Those innovations make life better for everyone that it pursues the goal of mankind more effectively.
However, space exploration may have a possibility of being a waste of money. This is because the construction of building a spacecraft and satellites need to use a vast amount of natural resources which may be a bad influence of depleting an already scarce supply. For instance, in 2016, the budget for NASA was 19.3 billion dollars. Although it seems small when comes to a comparison to the total United State budget of 3.95 trillion dollars for that particular year, that figure does need to be put in perspective.
As a conclusion, the process of space exploration has its advantages and disadvantages towards mankind in all perspective. Space exploration may provide mankind with a new knowledge and improvements in science and technology, but it would be a burden to citizens on earth if it does not. I believe that it contains both pros and cons rather than only negative impacts.
