恭迎药师琉璃光如来圣诞    The Birthday of The Medicine Master Buddha

农历九月三十日，恭迎药师琉璃光如来圣诞。药师琉璃光如来，又称药师佛、大医王佛 、医王善逝或消灾延寿药师佛，为东方琉璃净土的教主 ，与释迦牟尼佛、阿弥陀佛为“横三世佛”。

The birthday of Medicine Master Vaidurya Light Tathagata is celebrated on the thirtieth day of the ninth month of the lunar calendar. Medicine Master Vaidurya Light Tathagata, also known as the Medicine Master Buddha, Great Healing King Buddha, Medicine King Tathagata, or Medicine Buddha Who Quells Disasters and Lengthens Life, is the Buddha of the Land of Vaidurya Light in the East and is one of the "Trikala Buddhas" together with Shakyamuni Buddha and Amitabha Buddha.

《药师琉璃光如来本愿功德经》中记载药师佛行菩萨道时，广发十二大愿。愿为众生先以食味解除疾苦，使具足诸根；复以法味，使之解脱。菩萨依此愿而成佛，住净琉璃世界，其国土功德庄严如极乐国。

As recorded in the Sutra of the Merit and Virtue of the Past Vows of Medicine Master Vaidurya Light Tathagata, when the Medicine Master Buddha was practicing the bodhisattva path, he made twelve great vows, one of which was to cause all sentient beings to be filled with delicious food and drink, to be freed from sickness and suffering, their spiritual faculties to be nourished, and by means of the flavor of Dharma, to settle in ultimate peace and happiness. He attained Buddhahood by following these vows, and dwells in the Pure Vaidurya Land, which is adorned with merit and virtue identical to that of the Western World of Ultimate Bliss.

药师佛一方面鼓励命终往生净土、早成佛道，另一方面也能满足众生现世的安乐，增福延寿，消灾免难。不仅是能救治众生心性灵命中的贪、瞋、痴的大医师，也能救治众生身体疾病苦厄。

The Medicine Master Buddha encourages people to aspire for a rebirth  in the pure land after death and achieve Buddhahood as early as possible. He also bestows them peace and happiness of this life by increasing blessings and prolonging life of all sentient beings and helping them in times of disaster and difficulty. The Medicine Master Buddha is a great healing doctor, who cures not only the spiritual illnesses such as greed, anger, and ignorance of all sentient beings, but also their physical illnesses.

在这个殊胜的日子里，愿我们虔诚礼敬药师琉璃光如来，以药师信仰和慈悲喜舍为无上法药，祈愿众生身心安泰、所求皆得，祈愿吉祥降临、福满人间。

On this special day, we should pay homage to the Medicine Master Buddha, take the faith in the Medicine Master Buddha and the Four Immeasurables of kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity as the supreme Dharma medicine, and pray that all sentient beings be blessed with peace and health and granted with all their wishes, and that auspiciousness and good fortune take place in this world.
